About this event

Become a Volunteer with CTPR! We are an all-volunteer run organization, so your time and effort are so important to caring for our residents!

About the Volunteer Workday

Volunteer Workdays are a fun way to interact with the pig residents of Central Texas Pig Rescue in the Enchanted Pig Forest! Our workdays are approximately 3 hours long. During the event, you will learn about CTPR, our residents, and how great and amazing pigs are. You will also perform light chores, as needed. You'll be working right alongside the pigs, and will have tons of opportunities to give them love and belly rubs!

Supervised children who are at least 10 years of age are welcome, and we highly encourage prior conversations about animal meeting etiquette, though we too will go over the basics of meeting the pigs as well. If you have children under the age of 10, we recommend attending one of our other onsite events (such as SnoutFest, Watermelon Smash Bash, Pumpkin Smash, etc.) or one of our public tours that occur every other month.

This is a workday; you will get dirty! Please be prepared for the elements, and bring along weather-appropriate gear (hats, sunscreen, jackets, rainwear, etc). Be sure to wear clothes, work gloves, & footwear that can get dirty, as you will experience poop, mud, and dirt!

You can attend as many Volunteer Workdays as you'd like! We hold 1-2 per month. This is the perfect opportunity for people who don't want to commit to the full requirements of the Animal Care Team, but want to hang out with pigs and help out!

***Each person who plans to attend the Volunteer Workday event must fill out this registration. For minors 17 and under, this form must be filled out by a parent/guardian and the minor must be accompanied by their parent/guardian for the event. One form for one adult and one minor is fine.***

How does our Volunteer Program Work?

After you've attended 3 Volunteer Workdays, you'll be eligible to attend our Volunteer Orientation to become an official Animal Care Team Member. Animal Care Team Members come out to the rescue in flexible shifts, are responsible for keeping up with team communication, and perform critical tasks on their own!

Treats for Pigs:

Acceptable snacks for pigs include: pumpkins, watermelon, apples, carrots, cucumbers, iceberg lettuce, strawberries, and bananas. Please check with a CTPR team member before passing out snacks. Please avoid: potatoes, stone fruits, avocados, or any fruits/veggies with a pit. Please do not bring foods with added salt. Please remove all labels/stickers and please do not bring single-use plastic on site as bags can easily get lost and are a hazard to our free-roaming donkeys and goats.

CTPR is an all-volunteer, all-donation-based organization, and so all purchases of tickets are non-refundable, tax-deductible donations.
